The beta version of Starscape has been taken down in anticipation of the Kickstarter in Summer 2024. Thank you to everyone who downloaded this game in the beta stages for playtesting. You will all get full PDFs of the game via this page when it was completed. 

What is Starscape?
Starscape is the found-family story of a crew and their adventures living in space. It focuses on a group of core personalities and how their trust in one another changes over the course of their adventures. You create your crew, a ship, a bit of shared history and purpose, and then play to find out if you come together when it matters most, or fracture when faced with conflicting personalities, desires, intergalactic politics, the dangers of space, and all the other challenges of an unpredictable universe.

Starscape is inspired by Star Trek, Farscape, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, and A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers. The mechanics are designed to let the sci-fi setting and tone be flexible, so you can play in your favorite IP or create something new for your campaign. Individual game sessions may focus on how the crew faces a specific challenge, like defeating a Borg, Cylon, or Reaver ship, but the overarching story of the campaign is about the crew's trust and relationships with one another change over time. 

Starscape is built on a Powered by the Apocalypse foundation, but with many enhancements that tailor it to found-family space stories. Players choose a playbook from nine common character archetypes found in sci-fi stories, which can be customized with unique background and skill choices. We have been developing it for the past three years to ensure the game is finished, has been thoroughly play-tested, has stunning art, and is ready to start creating worlds.
